Update: All this is not needed anymore, just Chrome Stable will do.

Since Netflix came to Germany earlier this week and I use [Crunchbang](http://crunchbanglinux.org) Linux/Debian Janice/Jessie exclusively, I had to figure out how to make it work on my boxes. I could've just used my Acer C720 Chromebook for watching Netflix, but of course I had to install Crunchbang on there as well, so no dice. But since ChromeOS is based on Linux, I thought there had to be a way to make it work on Debian without fucking around with Wine & Pipelight. After a little research, I stumbled over [this](http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/08/netflix-linux-html5-support-plugins) post on omgubuntu.co.uk and tried to adapt it for Debian unstable. First you go and get the google Package Signing Key. `wget -q -O - https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | sudo apt-key add -` Next you create a new repo file via: `sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/chrome.list` And enter the following: `deb http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb/ stable main` Save the file and run: `sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install google-chrome-unstable` After this, it's pretty much like in the omgubuntu post I mentioned earlier, but since this blog serves as a personal notepad, I'll write it down here anyway. Start the newly installed Chrome and install [this](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg) Chrome Extension. After that, a new button should show up on your Chrome somewhere. Right click on that Button and select: Options. Enter the following: * Name: Netflix * String: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/38.0.2114.2 Safari/537.36 * Group: (filled automatically) * Append: Replace * Flag: IE Click Add when done. Now just select the Netflix Linux string we created earlier when on netflix.com and you should be good to go. I've tried this on Crunchbang/Debian Waldorf/Wheezy as well, but Netflix only threw errors. If you have any ideas, please leave a comment (once I've managed to activate them).
